从语义翻译与交际翻译角度浅析《水浒传》三个英译本

当晕倒的女子被救醒时，在场的人都很开心并感到宽慰。关键词“千好万好”用在这里表达人们放松的心情。而杰克逊根本就没有翻译此词漏译原文重要信息。赛珍珠也没有传达原文深层含义，因此，沙博里的译文是最好的。
2．潘公道：“叔叔今后并不要疑心，只顾随分且过。”当时吃了几杯酒并些素食，收过了杯盘。(施耐庵罗贯中，1992：400)
And the old man P’an said, “Brother-in-law, from this timeyou are not to doubt me. Only do each duty as it comes.” When theyhad then drtmken a few cups of wine and eaten some vegetablesdishes it need not be told how the things were cleared away. (Buck,1963:796)
“After this I must ask you, uncle not to have any suspicions ofwhat we do here,”said Old Mr.Pan. (ackson, 1963:625 )

在翻译此句时，杰克逊漏译“当时吃了几杯酒并些素食，收过了杯盘”。也许杰克逊认为此句不是重要信息因而译文较简洁流畅。然而他高估了译入语读者的知识范围忽略了译文的可理解性，赛珍珠的翻译似乎有些冗长。因此沙博里的译文是最好的。
四、结论
由此，我们可以得出，正如纽马克所认为的那样，采用语义翻译译出来的作品总是要逊色于原著，因为语义翻译既然想要保持原著的一切东西，做到细大不捐，就难免顾此失彼，生搬硬套。反之，用交际翻译译出的作品则可能会比原著要好，但容易出现欠译。也不应把语义翻译和交际翻译孤立起来看待，而应结合在一起。在《水浒传》的三个英译本中，沙博里的译文更多的倾向于两种方法合二为一，不失为最好的译文。因此，在翻译实践中，往往是两种翻译方法交替使用，相辅相成，以期达到译文的最佳效果。
