圣女勃瑞特

　　综上所述，在海明威笔下，通过杰克带有个人偏见的叙述，勃瑞特被评判为妓女或女巫不难理解；但是，对勃瑞特的这种评判有失公正。因此，把勃瑞特定位圣女，似乎更加客观，更合乎整个小说的主题含义。因为勃瑞特以圣母的关爱和美德昭示着人们，并以一种超脱的方式寻求生存的意义，实在是难能可贵。
