The Teaching of Life Skills and the Promotion
of Mental Health in Deaf Students

AbstractSurvival skills refer to the adaptive a nd positive behaviors thatenable individuals to deal with the demands and challenges in daily life effecti vely. This essay, firstly, expatiates the meaning of survival skills-based healt h education. In regards to the implementation of the survival skills training pr ograms to adolescents in schools in foreign countries, this essay analyses the i nfluence of survival skills training in adolescents with respect to the reductio n of behavioral problems and the enhancement of psychosocial competence. Based o n the issues mentioned above, this paper discusses the importance of developingsurvival skills education in schools for the deaf. Even though the training cannot promote the psychological health of the deaf students, it improves their abi lity to adapt in the society.
