AbstractDevelopmental dyslexia is an important issue for h uman health and deve lopment. For many years, researchers have attempted to find out the cause of dys lexia. They hope to solve the problem of reading impairment and to eliminate dys lexia from its origin. However, researchers found that the dyslexic group is het erogeneous. This paper introduced the two most representative theories in explai ning the cause of dyslexia, and some relevant research evidence. Then, the autho rs focused on the historical development of the dyslexic subtypes. The classific at ion of various subtypes and the differences between subtypes in reading skills, sensory and cognitive processing, and neurological basis were discussed. Moreove r , the function of subtype identification in the early prediction of the disorderwas examined. This provides a new point of view in eliminating dyslexia.
